General information

Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport is, after Dubai International Airport, the busiest airport in the United Arab Emirates. The airport is the main base for Etihad Airways and has one modern terminal and two runways (2x 4,100 metres). The airport is also heavily used by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.

The airport is located east of the city centre. By car, Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport is easily accessible via the E10 and E20 motorways.

How many terminals does Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport have?

The airport has one terminal, namely Terminal A. The new terminal at Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport was officially opened on October 31, 2023, Terminal A is also known as Midfield Terminal. All flights from Abu Dhabi International Airport now depart from Terminal A. Terminal 1 (beautiful and old), Terminal 3 (opened in 2009) and Terminal 2 are currently closed, in the future Terminal 3 may be reopened. Terminal A consists of a main building and four piers (A, B, C and D), making the walking distances to the gates short. The terminal’s capacity is 45 million passengers per year. The Arrivals hall on the ground floor has 7 exit doors, the Departures hall on the upper floor has 8 entrance doors.

The first flight at Terminal A / Midfield Terminal landed on July 13, 2023, with film star Tom Cruise on board for the filming of the film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

Tickets for the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, opened in 2017, can be reserved ahead of time. You can also book a guided tour to the Yas Marina Circuit, located on an artificial island that was specifically built to host the Formule 1 Grand Prix.
