General information

Accra Kotoka Airport is Ghana’s largest and only international airport. The airport was built at the initiative of Kwame Nkrumah and later named after Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka, who led the coup to overthrow Nkrumah’s government. Accra Kotoka Airport consists of three terminals and one runway, the airport offers connections to African, Asian, North American and European destinations. In 2019, Accra Kotoka Airport handled 3 million passengers.

Accra Kotoka Airport is located in the northeastern part of Ghana’s capital. The airport is accessible from the city centre via Liberation Road. The nearest highway is N1 Acrra – Tema Motorway.

How many terminals does Accra Kotoka Airport have?

Since the opening of the modern Terminal 3 in 2018, the airport has three terminals. T3 is used for international air traffic, T2 for domestic flights and T1 for private flights. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are next to each other, T3 is a 5-minute walk from T1/T2.
