Aer Lingus is the flag carrier of Ireland and, after low-cost carrier Ryanair, the second largest airline in the country.

Aer Lingus was founded on 15 April 1936. Ryanair tried three times to take-over Aer Lingus, in 2006, 2008 and 2012. Eventually, International Airlines Group (IAG) took over the airline in 2015. With this take-over, IAG also bought the 30% stake Ryanair already obtained.

Aer Lingus passengers can take one piece of cabin baggage with them. For general Aer Lingus flights, this piece of baggage may weight 10 kg and its allowed to bring one personal item.
