Air Astana is the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Air Astana operates flights within Kazakhstan and to destinations in Asia, Europe and Africa. The airline is really ambitious and wants to become the most hospitable, efficient, active, reliable and trustworthy airline in the Eurasian region.
Air Astana’s headquarters are located in Almaty. The airline has two hubs, the main hub is located at Almaty Airport and the secondary hub at Astana Airport. Air Astana has just over 4,500 employees. The airline is for 51 percent owned by the Government of Kazakhstan through the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, and for 49 percent by BAE Systems PLC holding.

The airline was founded in late 2001 and in 2002 Air Astana started operating with three lease aircraft. The inaugural was attended by President Nursultan Nazarbayev of which Astana’s airport is named after. Within 20 years from its establishment, the airline grew to a fleet of over 30 modern airliners.

The airline offers every economy passenger one piece of hand baggage of 8 kg and one personal item. Business passengers can take 2 pieces of hand luggage of 8 kg and also one personal item. In addition, Air Astana offers for every route at least 20 kg free baggage allowance for economy (classic & plus) passengers and at least 30 kg for business (saver & flex) passengers.
