Air Caraïbes was founded in 2000 with a merge between Air Guadeloupe, Air Martinique, Air Saint Barthelemy, and Air Saint Martin. In 2003 the airline started operating long-haul flights.

Baggage
Air Caraïbes offers its passengers the ability to bring 2 pieces of cabin baggage of both 12 kg on transatlantic flights. On regional flights, the maximum weight is limited to 5 g per bag. The cabin baggage is restricted to the following maximum dimensions, one piece of 55x35x25 cm and one of 40x30x15 cm. In addition, passengers travelling in Smart Flex Economy can bring 1 piece of checked luggage of 23 kg while passengers in Smart Flex Premium Economy and Smart Flex Business can bring 2 pieces of checked baggage.
