The airline was founded in 1973 by the government of Papua New Guinea, Ansett, Qantas, and Trans Australia Airlines.
Passengers can bring 1 piece of carry-on luggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg. The amount of permitted checked luggage depends on the travel class and destination. For domestic flights, Economy Class passengers can bring 1 piece of checked luggage with a maximum weight of 16 kg while Business Class passengers are permitted to bring 20 kg of luggage.
