History
American Airlines was founded in 1926 as a mail-carrying airline. In 1929 the predecessor of American Airlines, The Aviation Company, was formed by a merge between Robertson Aircraft Corporation and Colonial Air Transport. One year later, the airline changed its name to American Airways. In 1934, the airline needed to change its name again because of a reorganization. Since that year, the airline was called by its current name, American Airlines. Eventually, in 1936, the airline started to carry passengers as well.
