Azerbaijan Airlines is the flag carrier of Azerbaijan and the largest airline in the country. About 40% of all flights to and from Baku Airport are operated by Azerbaijan Airlines.

Azerbaijan Airlines was founded in 1992 by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The airline derived from the local Aeroflot unit. In 2016, Azerbaijan Airlines established a low-cost airline under the name Buta Airways.
- Azerbaijan Airlines was the first airline in the region that started operating with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2014.
- Azerbaijan Airlines is one of the only airlines that operate flights between Israel and an Islamitic country.
Azerbaijan Airlines has a lounge at Baku Airport for their Business Class passengers, it’s called the AZAL lounge. You can find the lounge on the first level of Zone A in Terminal 1.
Economy Class passengers are allowed to bring 1 piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 8 kg while Business Class passengers can bring 1 piece with a maximum weight of 15 kg. In addition, Azerbaijan Airlines allows every passenger to bring at least 1 piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg.
