Azerbaijan Airlines is the flag carrier of Azerbaijan and the largest airline in the country. About 40% of all flights to and from Baku Airport are operated by Azerbaijan Airlines. The airline is one of the largest airlines in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) area.
Organization
Azerbaijan Airlines is fully owned by the Government of Azerbaijan. has about 800 employees. Azerbaijan Airlines has a low-cost subsidiary airline which is called Buta Airways. The airline has a codeshare agreement with about 10 other airlines, among which large European airlines as Air France, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines. Azerbaijan Airlines is a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

History
Azerbaijan Airlines was founded in 1992 by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The airline derived from the local Aeroflot unit. In 2016, Azerbaijan Airlines established a low-cost airline under the name Buta Airways.

Lounges
Azerbaijan Airlines has a lounge at Baku Airport for their Business Class passengers, it’s called the AZAL lounge. You can find the lounge on the first level of Zone A in Terminal 1.
Baggage
Economy Class passengers are allowed to bring 1 piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 8 kg while Business Class passengers can bring 1 piece with a maximum weight of 15 kg. In addition, Azerbaijan Airlines allows every passenger to bring at least 1 piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg.
