Belavia Belarusian Airlines is the flag carrier of Belarus. The airline operates more than 35,000 flights and carries more than 3 million passengers a year. Belavia is a Full-Service Carrier but recently decided that it needs to move away to a more hybrid model to meet changing market needs. The airline mainly focusses on the safe regular and punctual operations of its flights.
The majority of all flights are operated from Minsk Airport, while the headquarters of Belavia can be found in the city centre of Minsk. The airline has about 1,800 employees and offers scheduled flights to more than 50 destinations. Belavia is a member of IATA and has codeshare agreements with about 15 airlines.

Belavia was founded on 5 March 1996 as a result of the reconstruction of Belarusian Association of Civil Aviation which was established in 1993. Nonetheless, Belarusian aviation history goes way back. Belarusian civil aviation originated from November 1933, when the inauguration of Minsk-1 Airport took place. The airline became a full IATA member in 1997.
