History
The airline was founded in 1974 as a merger between British Overseas Airways Corporation and European Airways, though, its traces are going back to 1919 when Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited (AT&T), the predecessor of British Airways. BA was establishment in 1974, as a flag carrier owned by the government. Somewhat later, the government decided to privatise the airline which was fully completed in 1987. One year before the start of the second millennium the aviation alliance Oneworld was founded, British Airways was one of the founding members. This was an important mark of a new strategy for the airline. In 2010, the airline became part of International Airlines Group.
