Hainan Airlines is part of the HNA Group and has multiple shareholders. The three largest shareholders of the airline are Grand China Air, Hainan Development Holdings and HNA Group. The airline has about 25,000 employees. Hainan Airlines has also a major stake in several minor airlines, among which Air Chang’an, Beijing Capital Airlines, Fuzhou Airlines, Lucky Air and Urumqi Airlines.

History
Hainan Airlines was founded in October 1989 as Hainan Province Airlines and started operating in 1993. In 1996, the airline was renamed to Hainan Airlines.

Baggage
Each Economy Class passenger can bring 1 piece of checked baggage on board. For domestic flights, the maximum weight may be 5 kg while on international flights the weight is limited to 10 kg. Business and First Class passengers can bring 2 pieces of cabin baggage on board of which each piece can weight 5 kg on domestic flights and 10 kg on international flights. For checked luggage, passengers can bring at least 20 kg in Economy Class and 30 kg in Business Class.
