History
LATAM was founded by a merger between LAN Airlines from Chile and TAM Airlines from Brazil in 2012 and the new name was for the first time used in 2015. The airlines’ history is traced back to the establishment of the Chilean airline Línea Aeropostal Santiago-Arica. In 1932, the airline changed its name to Línea Aérea Nacional de Chile (LAN). TAM Airlines was founded in 1975 as Transportes Aéreos Regionais S/A (TAM).
Baggage
In general, LATAM passengers can bring 1 piece of carry-on luggage with a maximum weight of 8 kg in Economy and 16 kg in Premium Economy and Business Class. For flights within Brazil, the maximum weight is limited to 10 kg. In addition, every passenger is permitted to bring 1 personal item onboard.
