Malaysia Airlines is the national airline of Malaysia and flies to several destinations within Asia and to a few intercontinental destinations.


Malaysia Airlines is owned by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Malaysia Aviation Group. The airline has about 10 subsidiaries among which the airlines Firefly and MASwings.

Malaysia Airlines was founded in 1947 as Malayan Airways. In 1966, the airline changed its name to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines and later in 1972 to Malaysian Airline System (MAS). After the accidents of flight MH370 and MH17, the airline only recorded loses and came up with a recovery plan which led to the restructuration of the airline. As a result of this restructuration, the airline got rebranded to Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB).


Economy passengers traveling with Malaysia Airlines are allowed to bring 1 piece of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg while Business Class passengers can bring each 2 pieces with a maximum weight of 7 kg in the cabin.
