Tarom is an airline from Romania and the flag carrier of the country. The airline flies to several destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa. Besides the airlines’ rich history, Tarom wants to carry out its modernity and elegance.
Organization
Tarom is almost totally owned by the Romanian government. The airline is a member of the SkyTeam alliance. The airline operates to more than 50 destinations and has been an IATA member since 1993.

History
Tarom was founded in 1954 when the Romanian government bought shares of the Soviet airline TARS. A few years after its establishment, the airline already operated multiple flights across Europe. In the 60s the airline operated its first transatlantic flight and in the 70s the airline started operating flights to Australia with a refuelling stop in Calcutta. In 2010, the airline joined the SkyTeam alliance.

Baggage
Tarom passengers can bring 1 piece of hand baggage with a maximum weight of 10 kg. The maximum dimensions of this bag are 55x 40x 20cm, however, on flights with the ATR 42 or ATR 72 the maximum dimensions are 35x 30 x 20cm. The amount of permitted checked baggage for Economy Class passengers is usually 1 piece with a maximum weight of 23 kg while Business Class passengers can bring 3 pieces with each a maximum weight of 23 kg.
