Public transportation from/to Terminal 1-2, Train and S-Bahn to Berlin

Berlin Brandenburg Airport has two train stations and is therefore easily accessible by public transport. Flughafen BER Terminal 1-2 Bahnhof is located under Terminal 1 at a maximum 10-minute walk from Terminal 1 Arrivals and Terminal 2 Arrivals. From here, trains run to the capital of Germany. The regional trains FEX Flughafenexpresszug, RE7 and RB14 offer the most frequent connection, you have a travel option to and from the airport every 5 to 10 minutes. It is also possible to travel to the city centre by Intercity train and S-Bahn S9, however the Intercity runs not as often and S-Bahn S9 (via Terminal 5) takes 15 to 20 minutes more to Alexanderplatz and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. The journey time from Berlin Brandenburg Airport to Berlin Hauptbahnhof is 28 to 41 minutes, depending on which train you take. From 2025, the FEX Airport-Express will run to Berlin Hbf via Südkreuz and Potsdamer Platz, reducing travel time to just 20 minutes. The price for a ticket (Einzelfahrausweis Berlin ABC, valid for 120 minutes) is € 3.80 for adults and € 2.70 for children from 6 up to 14 years. Please consult website BVG for more information.

Public transportation from/to Terminal 5, S-Bahn to Berlin

Between Terminal 5 at Berlin Brandenburg Airport and the city you can use the S-Bahn, there are no (regional) trains available to and from Terminal 5. The railway station can be reached via a covered walkway, it is about a 10-minute walk. At Flughafen BER Terminal 5 Bahnhof you can choose between S-Bahn S9 and S-Bahn S45. S-Bahn S9 provides a connection to the centre and main railway station of Berlin, travel time to Alexanderplatz is 35 minutes. S-Bahn S45 provides a connection to Berlin Südkreuz in the south of Berlin, via Neukölln, Hermannstraße and Tempelhof, among others. The price for a ticket (Einzelfahrausweis Berlin ABC, valid for 120 minutes) is € 3.80 for adults and € 2.70 for children from 6 up to 14 years. Please consult website BVG for more information.

Next to the train and S-Bahn, you can travel by bus between Berlin Brandenburg Airport and the city of Berlin. Both terminals have their own bus station from where city buses depart. One of the bus services is bus line X7 that connects Terminal 1-2 and Terminal 5 with metro station Rudow, the journey time is 16 minutes from Terminal 1-2 and 8 minutes from Terminal 5. Metro line 7 (U-Bahn) runs between Rudow in the southeast of Berlin and Rathaus Spandau in the northwest of the city. The metro connects Rudow with the south of Berlin, including Neukölln and Kreuzberg. The journey time from metro station Rudow to U-Bahnhof Möckernbrücke (U1, U3, U7) 1.5 kilometres southeast of Checkpoint Charlie and Jüdisches Museum is only 25 minutes. Both the bus and metro run every 5 minutes. In the future, metro line 7 will be extended to Berlin Brandenburg Airport, so that transferring is no longer necessary. A direct Intercity train runs every two hours to Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Dresden in Saxony. Trains run only from Flughafen BER Terminal 1-2 railway station, not from Terminal 5. A train journey between the airport and Rostock Hbf takes 2 hours and 50 minutes, travel time from Berlin Brandenburg Airport to Dresden Hbf is 1 hour 40 minutes. You can buy tickets online and at the stations from the ticket machines. Please consult website Deutsche Bahn for more information.
