Cape Town Airport is one of the busiest airports in Africa. The airport, formerly known as D.F. Malan Airport, replaced Wingfield Aerodrome in 1954. At this moment, the airport is considering renaming the airport after one of Cape Town’s heroes, among whom Nelson Mandela and his wife, Winnie Mandela.

The airport is located east of Cape Town’s city centre and harbour. From the city, you can get to the airport by following Settlers Way. The Airport is located northeast of Cape of Good Hope.
How many terminals does Cape Town Airport have?
Cape Town Airport has one terminal building which is divided into three parts: International Terminal, Central Terminal and Domestic Terminal. The International Terminal can be found in the most northern part of the building and is divided into Arrivals and Departures. In the most southern part of the building, you can find the Domestic Terminal which is also divided into two parts, Arrivals and Departures. The Central Terminal contains about 120 check-in desks and 20 self-service desks.
The distance from Cape Town Airport to the centre of Cape Town is 20 kilometres. By car, it takes 30 minutes to get to the centre of Cape Town.
