What is the distance from Dubrovnik Airport to the centre of Dubrovnik and Cavtat?
By car it takes 25 to 30 minutes to get to the centre of Dubrovnik, the distance via the D8 road is 20 kilometres / 12.4 miles. You can reach Cavtat in 10 minutes, the distance in between is 6 kilometers / 3.7 miles.
From DBV Airport to Dubrovnik City centre by Car
Bus to Dubrovnik and Cavtat
It is possible to travel by public transport to and from Dubrovnik Airport, but there are only a few buses per day. Bus lines 11, 27 and 38 run between the airport and Dubrovnik, bus line 31 takes you from Dubrovnik Airport to Cavtat. The journey time is 40 minutes to Dubrovnik, while Cavtat is 10 minutes away. A time schedule is available at the airport and bus station of Dubrovnik, tickets can be purchased on board the bus for 28 HRK. Public transport services are operated by Libertas Dubrovnik.
Other well-known routes they operate are bus line 10 between Dubrovnik and Cavtat and bus services 1A and 1B (Mokošica – Old Town) between the bus station and the cruise terminal of Dubrovnik and Pile Gate. Tickets for the city buses cost 12 HRK if you buy it in advance and 15 HRK from the bus driver, please prepare the exact amount of money. A day ticket is available at the offices of Libertas Dubrovnik and at Dubrovnik Travel Corner, the price is 30 HRK. Dubrovnik is a beautiful city, which you can discover through an interesting guided walking tour, enjoyable kayaking tour or walk on the old Dubrovnik City Walls. It is also nice to visit Lokrum, a small island off the coast. In the summer, a boat departs from Old Port every half hour, a return ticket including access to the park costs 150 HRK.
Platanus to Dubrovnik
Platanus provides shuttle bus transfers to the city centre for every incoming flight and to the airport for all outbound flights. Jump on any one of these if you’re either heading towards the city or Dubrovnik Airport. Buses run to and from Dubrovnik Main Bus Station in Gruž, a district in the north of Dubrovnik. The bus station is situated next to the port of Dubrovnik, where many cruise ships dock in the summer months. The bus does not run through the Old Town of Dubrovnik, but it stops just outside the city walls. If you’re coming from the airport, you have to get off at the first stop ‘Cable Car Station’. After that, the bus only stops at Grawe and Gruž.
If you want to travel in the other direction, from the old walled city to Dubrovnik Airport, you can get on the bus at ‘Cable Car Station’. The bus leaves Dubrovnik Main Bus Station about 2 hours before each departing flight. Travel time to and from the stops next to the Old Town is 30 minutes, up-to-date departure times can be found via the website of Platanus. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter, ticket machine and directly from the bus driver. Platanus accepts cash and credit card, return tickets are open ended.
