Worst airport ever!!
The Swiss think they do things well but this airport is beyond awful!
Disgusting overpriced for everything. Poor staffing, poor systems for security etc. terrible shopping options, wifi doesn’t work most of the time, miles to gates, unclean toilets!
I can’t say a good thing. I hate that this is my nearest airport to home, it’s a disgrace.
Worst airport (outside Africa) in 10 years of travels to 40 countries. No Wi-Fi access - SMS log in simply doesn’t work and for use of boarding card for Wi-Fi you had to know to find a booth somewhere pre check in. Good luck finding that as the signage is terrible. Plus no clues as to whether you should do car hire Swiss side or French side. Avoid French as the route to bring the car back to the drop off is a cruel version of the Crystal Maze that makes google maps look inadequate. If there was a zero stars option this is it.
Possibly the worst Airport I've ever been through. Baggage conveyor belts weren't working which I believe is a daily occurance. We lined up for 1.5hrs to check in bags. Rude staff who would rather chat amongst themselves than look after their customers. Shuttle bus was absolutely filthy most especially the stability handles, they are a major health issue. I'll avoid Geneva Airport at all costs in the future.
Awful airport for too many reasons to list; recently I had particularly bad experiences with incompetent staff at the Air Canada and Qatar Airline counters.
I have used the airport more than 100 times since I live in Geneva.
Its not the nicest, but it does the job, and quite convenient for a city of this size. New non shenghen terminal is an improvement. Lounge situation is OK, they tend to be on a small scale. Its well connected to the center by train, (10min), security queues are usually short (between 5 to 15min) and I have never waited long for luggage. If you have an early morning flight, its better to use the fast track access, this is when it gets crowded. Otherwise I usually arrive 1hr before a flight and its enough.
Access from lakeside is a disaster, but not due to airport but huge roadworks. Schengen side ok efficient. Non Schengen new wing: long walk, border control is administrative but not friendly. Wing however new, nice, efficient. Restaurants after security expensive. Heavy traffic. Security control big progress, fast.
This is the worst airport I have ever had the misfortune to use. There were no clear directions to car rental and it took an hour driving round and round the roadworks. And then eventually we could only find the Swiss location for car return. Fortunately a kind Avis agent drove us to the French side. Here there were no signs for departures. Everything seems designed to confuse the traveler. The queue for passport control was frightening as we were well late by now! Fortunately a kind officer let us use the EU queue.
Your new gates are scandalous as the walk to gate C 60 is a very long way. Did the intelligent airport authorities not think of older people? Or would they rather we did not travel! You queue for passports wherever where else there are electronic gates. Why do we have biometric passports for? This airport is a bad joke.
I have never in all my years of travelling seen such chaos at an airport as I witnessed this morning coming back from Geneva . Getting off the bus and check in was ok but then the longest queue to go through security followed by an
Even longer queue to get a shuttle bus to the main terminal. A moment of respite from queues before we decided that it would be a good idea to go
To our gate. 15 min walk and THEN an hour and a half of What can only be described as a scrum as 10 flights heading to the uk due to all take off within 30 mins of each other mosh pitted their way to the 4 measly slow passport control booths many queue barging, arguing, pushing as everyone panicked about missing their flights. When we finally got to our gate 10 mins after we were due to take off we were told there were still 100 passengers that hadn’t yet made it to the gate.!! Needless to say we were over an hour late to take off. Chaos
... Not to mention the poor structure and signage of the Geneva airport but the staff is the poorest, they should be replaced by smiling efficient robots that actually know their jobs.
The airport is simply a disgrace to Geneva and Switzerland. Long waiting times throughout all processes. “Technical problems” with baggage delivery are the norm, not the exception .
