Bus and train to Geneva
You can take both bus and train to get to the centre of Geneva, the airport has a bus and train station within walking distance of terminals T1 and T2. Travelling to and from Geneva Airport by bus or train is easy and convenient. Bus line 5 (Autobus) and bus line 10 (Trolleybus) depart at least every 10 minutes in the direction of the city, so you have a travel option every 5 minutes. The main railway station of Geneva (Gare Cornavin) can be reached by both bus lines in 22 minutes on average.
Five times per hour departs a train from Geneva Airport to Geneva’s main train station, this is with a travel time of 7 minutes the fastest way of getting to the centre of the city.
In the north of Geneva, you can find the second most important United Nations Office in Palais des Nations (Parc de l’Ariana), United Nations Headquarters is located in New York. You can travel directly with bus line 5 and bus line 28 from Geneva Airport to Palais des Nations, the nearest train station is Geneva-Sécheron.
You can buy a ticket for the bus or train at the ticket machines inside the airport. However, arriving passengers at Geneva Airport can get an 80-minute ticket free of charge for a ride to their accommodation. A ticket can be collected from the special ticket machine in the baggage collection area. It’s valid in combination with your boarding pass on the bus, train, tram and boat (Unireso). Train to Lausanne
Lausanne is like Geneva located on Lake Geneva and in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (Romandy). The capital of the canton of Vaud is directly accessible by public transport from the airport, because there are trains running four times an hour between Geneva Airport and Lausanne.
At the train station of the airport (Genève-Aéroport) you can buy tickets from the ticket desk and ticket machines, online via the website of SBB is another possibility. Travel time is 46 minutes (via Geneva) or 52 minutes (via Geneva, Nyon, Morges). The price for a single journey is 28 CHF in the 2nd class and 49 CHF in the 1st class.
Lausanne railway station
