Hi,
It was a bit confusing, we arrived at the Brignole train station and tried to buy our ticket from the machine. We used the search icon to try and locate the aerport and buy our ticket but we couldn't manage to find the aerport name. There didn't appear to be an option to search in English so we really wern't sure what we were doing, hence we decided then to buy directly from the desk. We used ticket machines at stations in other italian ictes and never encountered a problem. Though the station was not busy the entire room where the ticket desk was located was full to capacity with people with large bags waiting to buy their own tickets. I assume encountering the same/similar problem as ourselves. We waited about 20 mins but the queue wasn't moving so we decided not to waste any more time and jumped into a taxi. The driver unfortunately completely scammed us. He said it was a a fixed price and charged 27 for us together. Later we discovered it should have been half that. From what I gather the bus to the aerport only goes every half hr to every hr so you really don't want to miss it. Considering that the aerport is actually not that far from the city centre 6-8km maybe then I do wonder why the metro or the train for that matter was never extended out to it., it was all a bit messy really. You can actually buy your bus ticket from the driver but we assumed that ticket holders would get first preference so we didn't want to take the chance that the bus would be full and miss our transfer. It seems very simple to get from the aerport to Genoa, they run every 15 mins, surely the same buses could leave from the train station to the aerport every 15 mins also? Had we'd been charged the correct price I'd say getting a taxi is the best option when going to the aerport from the city centre. I have to give the aerport transfer experience from the city 1 star here so as I can post this but would really prefer to give it zero stars if that was an option. Other than that Genoa itself is a wonderful vibrant melting pot of a city. Well worth the visit.
