What is the distance from Hanover Airport to the centre of Hanover?

Hanover’s city centre (Kröpcke) is 12 kilometres / 7.5 miles from the airport, by car you can cover the distance in just 20 minutes via the Vahrenwalder Strasse.

S-Bahn to Hanover

The S-Bahn S5 (Hannover Flughafen – Paderborn) is the fastest way to travel between Hanover Airport and the city, travel time to Hannover Hauptbahnhof is only 18 minutes. You have a travel option every 30 minutes between 04:00 hours and 01:30 hours, so almost all day. On the way to the main railway station of Hanover the S-Bahn calls at intermediate stations Langenhagen Pferdemarkt, Langenhagen Mitte, H-Vinnhorst, H-Ledeburg and H-Nordstadt.

Tickets for 2 zones are available from the ticket machines, the price is € 3.90 for adults and € 1.30 for children aged 6 to 14 years. A day ticket which can be used in 2 zones costs € 7.70 for a single person and € 14.20 for a maximum of five persons. The airport’s station (S-Bahnhof) is situated beneath Terminal C and can be reached via the escalators. If S-Bahn S5 is not available, you can take bus line 470 to Langenhagen and change to the train there. Train to Wolfsburg and Braunschweig

At Hannover Hauptbahnhof you can change to the train in the direction of Wolfsburg and Braunschweig, two major cities in Lower Saxony. Wolfsburg is known as the home town of car manufacturer Volkswagen. Once every two hours there is a direct ICE intercity train to Wolfsburg, the journey time is only 40 minutes. Travel time to Braunschweig is 55 minutes by regional train WestfalenBahn, you have an hourly travel option in both directions. The price for a single journey is € 13.20 (Braunschweig) to € 17.90 (Wolfsburg), tickets can be bought online via the Deutsche Bahn website or at one of the stations. Hildesheim, Salzgitter and Göttingen are also directly accessible by train from Hannover Hbf, travel time is 25 minutes to Hildesheim, 52 minutes to Salzgitter-Ringelheim (RE10 erixx) and 35 minutes to Göttingen (ICE).
