Public transport

Train Stansted Express to London (Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street) – BUY TICKETS

The Stansted Express is the fastest and most expensive travel option available, the train takes 47 minutes to get to and from Liverpool Street Station. This train and metro station is located in London’s city centre. If you have to be in the northern part of London, it is better to get off at Tottenham Hale Station. The journey time is 36 minutes. Here you can change trains to Stratford, among other places. The stations Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street are connected to the London Underground network. The Stansted Express runs every 15 to 30 minutes between London Stansted Airport and the city.

Below are the prices for a ticket (Standard Single) to and from Liverpool Street Station, a train ride to and from Tottenham Hale Station is slightly cheaper. A return ticket is valid for 30 days and children up to 4 years can travel free of charge. It is wiser to buy tickets online through the website of Stansted Express, fares are low if booked well in advance (Advance Offer). Bus National Express to London (Baker Street, Waterloo, Victoria, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Stratford)

At London Stansted Airport three bus operators have a presence, namely National Express, Airport Bus Express (Autostradale) and First Essex. Of these coach operators National Express offers the most connections and highest frequency: Route A6 to Baker Street and Victoria Station (every 20 minutes), Route A7 to Waterloo Station and Victoria Station (every 15 minutes), Route A8 to Liverpool Street Station and Whitechapel (every 20 minutes) and Route A9 to Stratford Station (every 15 minutes). Route A6/A7 to London Victoria Coach Station is most popular with travellers, a bus journey from the airport takes 1.5 to 2 hours. London Waterloo and London Victoria are the two busiest railway stations in London and the United Kingdom. Travel time to London Liverpool Street Station with Route A8 is 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Tickets can be purchased online, at the airport and at bus stops. Prices are variable, starting at £ 11.00 for a single trip. Return tickets are relatively inexpensive, in addition you can save money if you book well in advance through the National Express website. Children up to 2 years can travel for free when accompanied by an adult. Children from 3 up to 15 years benefit from discounts. In the centre of London (= fare zone 1) you can travel from west to east and vice versa with the Piccadilly Line (stations: Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden), Central Line and the Elizabeth Line train (stations: Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street). Hyde Park Corner and Green Park stations are within walking distance of Buckingham Palace. The north and south of the city centre are connected by London Underground Victoria Line, Jubilee Line, Bakerloo Line and Northern Line. In public transport you can pay with your bank card and mobile phone (check in & check out). Of course, you can also buy a Visitor Oyster Card or London Travelcard. You cannot buy single tickets on the buses in London, the tube (metro) is twice as expensive if you buy single tickets.

Train and bus to Cambridge

The United Kingdom has four top universities, namely the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London and Imperial College London. The universities of Cambridge and Oxford are the best and known throughout the world. Cambridge has an airport, but Cambridge City Airport is not open for general public. It means London Stansted Airport is the nearest commercial airport for Cambridge. There are two travel options between London Stansted Airport and Cambridge. Every 30 to 60 minutes a train (CrossCountry, Greater Anglia) leaves from the train station of Stansted Airport, the journey time to Cambridge via Audley End is approximately 35 minutes. Cambridge railway station is located 2 kilometres southeast of the city centre. Buses of National Express run less often (10 times a day), but directly to the centre of the city. The University of Cambridge is located in the centre of Cambridge. Travel time by bus is 50 minutes. One way tickets cost £ 5.00 (bus) to £ 10.00 (train) per person, online tickets are the cheapest. Bus service Essex Airlink X30 from First Essex runs between Southend and London Stansted Airport via London Southend Airport and Chelmsford, the capital of Essex. The modern buses with comfortable seats and free WiFi run every hour in both directions. Tickets are available online and at the airport. The bus leaves in front of the terminal from Coach Station.
