Muscat Airport
General information
Muscat Airport is a modern airport in the north of Oman. On March 20, 2018, the new terminal T1 of the airport was put into operation, located between the two runways, north of the old terminal T2. Muscat Airport expects to grow further in the coming years, driven by the ambitions of flag carrier Oman Air and low-cost carrier SalamAir.
Location
Where is Muscat Airport situated?
The airport of Muscat is located west of Muscat and east of Seeb, close to the sea (Gulf of Oman). By car, Muscat International Airport is accessible via three main roads, known as Sultan Qaboos Street, 18th November Street and Muscat Expressway.
How many terminals does Muscat Airport have?
The airport has two terminals, but currently only Terminal 1 (New Terminal) is in use. The old terminal T2 south of the two runways is closed since 2018, it will be redeveloped and used as a low cost terminal somewhere in the future. New Terminal has three piers with a total of 29 gates, the walking distances are relatively short. Nowadays, every aircraft is connected to the terminal via a jet bridge, which means that bus rides on the platform are a thing of the past.
