What is the distance from Porto Airport to the centre of Porto?

The city centre (Praça da Liberdade) is situated 16 kilometres / 9.9 miles from the airport. By car, you can cover the distance in 20 minutes.

Metro to Porto

Line E (purple) of Metro do Porto connects the airport with Porto’s city centre. The metro runs on average every 15 minutes from 06:00 hours in the morning to 00:30 hours at night. The journey time to the middle of Porto (Trindade subway station) is 26 minutes. Here it is possible to change to metro line A, B, C, D and F. The metro stations in Vila Nova de Gaia are accessible by metro line D (yellow). From the Arrivals hall it is only a few minutes’ walk to the metro station at Porto Airport, you will get there via Level -1. Metro line E from Porto Airport always runs in the direction of Estádio do Dragão, the football stadium of FC Porto.

Metro tickets
The price of a single Andante Azul ticket is € 2.00 (zone Z4), this ticket is valid for 1 hour and 15 minutes. An Andante 24 ticket costs € 6.90 (zone Z4) and may be a better option if you plan to use metros, buses and trams more often within the 24 hours after arrival. The first time you are required to pay an extra € 0.60 for a rechargeable ticket. Tickets can be purchased from the vending machines at the airport and metro stations. Train stations
Porto has two major railway stations, one in the centre of the city (São Bento) and one in the east of the city (Campanhã). São Bento Station is accessible via Trindade metro station, you have to change to metro line D. Travel time is 32 minutes. Campanhã Station is directly accessible from the airport in 32 minutes. Do you prefer to travel from door to door, for example from Porto Airport to your hotel, then the Airport Shuttle operated by 100rumos is a good alternative. They take travellers in shuttle buses to and from the airport. The prices are reasonable, depending on the number of passengers you will pay € 6.00 to € 18.00 per person.

GET BUS to Braga and Guimarães – BUY TICKETS

Two other major cities in proximity to the airport are Braga (192,000 inhabitants) and Guimarães (158,000 inhabitants). Both cities are about 55 kilometres away from Porto Airport and can be reached by bus service GET BUS. The shuttle bus runs 12 times a day between the airport and Braga, 8 to 10 times a day there is a connection available to and from Guimarães. Travel time from Porto Airport is the same for both locations, around 50 minutes.

Tickets are available from the GET BUS ticket desk, bus driver and online through the website. Children up to 4 years of age always travel free with GET BUS. You can also reach Braga and Guimarães by public transport (metro and train), then you should take into account a journey time of 2 hours.
