Public transport

Tram to Tallinn

Since late 2017 you can travel by tram between the airport and the city. Slightly to the north of the terminal you can find the public transport centre of Tallinn Airport. A 53 metres long connecting gallery enables passengers to get from the terminal to the public transport centre.

Tram number 4 (Lennujaam – Tondi) leaves every 7 to 10 minutes from Monday to Saturday from and to the airport, even on Sundays and public holidays the tram runs regularly. The last tram from Tallinn Airport leaves at 00:45 hours, the first tram from the city at 05:07 hours.

The journey time to Viru is 18 to 20 minutes, this is the most centrally located tram stop in Tallinn. From here you walk via the Viru Gate to Tallinn’s Old Town within a few minutes. Please consult timetable tram number 4 (Lennujaam = airport) for more information.

Bus to Tallinn

Bus number 2 runs between Tallinn Airport and the port of Tallinn. At the airport bus number 2 departs from bus stop Lennujaam, nearby public transport centre. From here the bus drives in the direction of ‘Reisisadam’. If you want to go downtown, you can get off at bus stop ‘A. Laikmaa’, from here it’s a short walk to the centre of Tallinn.

From Monday till Sunday the bus leaves approximately every 20 minutes to and from the city, travel time is around 15 minutes. The last stops of bus number 2, in the ferry port of Tallinn, are ‘Reisisadam D-terminal’ (20 minutes) and ‘Reisisadam’ (25 minutes) at Terminal A/B. Please consult timetable bus number 2 (Lennujaam = airport) for more information.

Tickets public transport Tallinn

The price for a single ticket is € 2.00, tickets are available from the bus driver and ticket machines. You can also buy a plastic Smartcard (Ühiskaart) for public transport in Tallinn, online or at a R-Kiosk, the price is € 2.00. The rechargeable electronic card can be topped up with money to travel for cheaper fares, for a single journey you only pay € 1.10. Tickets for 1 day / 24 hours (€ 3.00), 3 days / 72 hours (€ 5.00) and 5 days / 120 hours (€ 6.00) are priced more attractively. Children up to 2 years always travel for free in the capital of Estonia.
