Bus to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje
The public bus operator TITSA offers bus services from the airport to all parts of Tenerife. One route links the airport with the cities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje (bus line 111). The bus leaves twice an hour outside the Arrivals hall, the terminus in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is called ‘Intercambiador Santa Cruz’. Make sure to get on in the right direction at Tenerife South Airport, because bus line 111 runs in two directions from Tenerife South Airport. One in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and one in the direction of Costa Adeje.
A ticket to Tenerife’s capital costs € 9.35, a bus ride to Los Cristianos (€ 3.20) and Costa Adeje (€ 3.70) is cheaper. Obviously, this has something to do with the journey time to these destinations, Santa Cruz de Tenerife can be reached in 55 minutes while a bus ride to the resorts of Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje takes no longer than 25 minutes.
Playa de las Américas and night bus
Another popular destination is Playa de las Américas, this place is located between Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje and accessible by bus line 111. If you want to go there, you can get off at bus stop ‘Magma conference centre’. Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje both have about 20,000 residents, Playa de las Américas is much more a holiday resort than a residential area (5,000 inhabitants). At night you can also travel by public transport from the airport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the popular holiday destinations, i.e. bus line 711. Book return tickets for the cable car to El Teide, the largest volcano in Tenerife and the highest mountain in Spain (3,718 metres). The cable car takes visitors to the La Rambleta platform at an altitude of 3,555 metres. The top of the mountain is only accessible if you have requested permission in advance.
