Train to Trondheim

Every hour a local (or regional) train runs to and from Trondheim. The train station of Trondheim Airport is known as Værnes and Trondheim Lufthavn, accessible in a few minutes from Terminal A and Terminal B via a covered pedestrian way. Trondheim Airport train station is next to the Radisson Blu Hotel. Travel time to the main railway station Trondheim S is approximately 35 minutes. A train ticket costs 42 NOK for adults and 21 NOK (50% discount) for children from 6 up to 17 years and seniors from 67 years.

Bus to Trondheim

You can also travel by bus from Trondheim Airport, it is the cheapest mode of transportation operated by AtB. The bus stop is a 5-minute walk from both terminals, located close to the petrol station. Travel time is 40 minutes with bus route 311 and 50 minutes with bus route 70. Bus route 311 runs irregularly, bus route 70 about twice an hour. Train to Åre (Sweden)

Because there are far fewer flights to Åre Östersund Airport, most tourists choose to fly to Trondheim Airport in order to get to Åre in Sweden. Åre is a ski resort and a popular getaway during the winter season. One or two times per day a train departs from Trondheim S to the railway station of the Swedish border town Storlien, the highest located railway station in Sweden. Here you have to change trains to continue your journey to Åre. The total journey time is 2 hours and 35 minutes. Adults pay 182 NOK for a single ticket through the website of Vy. Children, students and seniors get a discount. Good to know, travel time is shorter and costs are lower if you take a train from Hell train station, located pretty close to Trondheim Airport. Værnes-Ekspressen to Trondheim

Every 20 minutes bus service Værnes-Ekspressen, operated by Unibuss, departs from Trondheim Airport to the centre of Trondheim and vice versa. This option is especially popular with tourists, as bus stops are located close or within walking distance of well-known hotels in Trondheim. The journey time from the airport to Solsiden Kjøpesenter shopping mall just east of the centre is 30 minutes, it takes 35 minutes to reach the hotels in the centre of the city. Værnes-Ekspressen also stops at the Lerkendal Stadium of football club Rosenborg BK, the journey time is 50 minutes.
