The largest airport in Austria is easily accessible from the city. By car, it takes 20 minutes to cover the distance of 20 kilometres between the airport and city centre.

S-Bahn and train to Vienna
From Vienna Airport departs twice an hour S-Bahn S7 to Vienna (direction Wien Floridsdorf Bahnhof). The journey time to Wien Mitte is 25 minutes, this station is located in the eastern part of downtown Vienna. Here you can transfer to U-Bahn U3 in the direction of Stephansplatz or U-Bahn U4 towards Karlsplatz. As of 1 January 2018 there are new tariffs for public transport in Vienna, also for the journey between Vienna Airport and the city.
The price of a ticket is € 4.10 for adults, € 2.50 for seniors above 62 years old, and € 2.10 for children from 6 up to 15 years. A ticket consists of two parts (Einzelfahrt im VOR + Wien Kernzone). Tickets must be purchased and validated prior to boarding. Fines are high if caught without a valid ticket. Tickets for public transport in Vienna can be bought from the ÖBB ticket vending machines on the platforms.
If you want to travel from the airport to the main railway station Wien Hauptbahnhof, you can take a train every half an hour. The price per person is equal to a ticket for the S-Bahn. Travel time with Railjet is 15 minutes. It can be beneficial to buy a day ticket for public transport, you can choose between 24 hours (€ 8), 48 hours (€ 14.10) and 72 hours (€ 17.10). City Airport Train to Vienna
It is also possible to travel with the fast non-stop train service City Airport Train (CAT) between Vienna Airport and Wien Mitte railway station. However, for this option you pay three times as much (€ 11.00 online, € 12.00 ticket machine). The train runs like the S-Bahn twice an hour, travel time is only 16 minutes. Moreover, the train is free for children up to 14 years.
In the trains you can read newspapers, city guides and magazines, use WiFi and charge electric equipment. It’s all included in the ticket price.
