Train to Warsaw
Since the 1st of June 2012 it is possible to travel by train between Warsaw Airport and Warsaw. This is a faster travel option than the bus, the price makes no difference. The airport’s train station is called Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina, it can be accessed directly through an extension of Terminal A. From there trains depart in the direction of the city every 15 minutes. Rail transportation is carried out by SKM (suburban railway – line S2, line S3) and KML (Koleje Mazowieckie – RL). To get to the centre of the city, you should get off at railway station Warszawa Sródmiescie (line S2) or central station Warszawa Centralna (line S3 and KML).
The train journey takes on average 22 minutes and a ticket costs 4.40 PLN for the red/white SKM trains and 6.80 PLN for the green/white KML trains. Single tickets of SKM can not be used on the trains of KML. Tickets are available from the ticket machines on the way to the platforms. If you will use the public transport system frequently, it is better to buy a One-day ticket for 15.00 PLN or a Weekend ticket for 24.00 PLN. These tickets are a good choice, because they are not expensive and valid on the train (SKM and KML), bus, tram and metro (types of tickets).
Public transportation in Warsaw is free for children up to 6 years, for children aged 7 to 16 years it’s travelling for half the price. Please consult website and timetable SKM and KML for more information.
