General information
Kazakhstan’s largest airport is located in the southeast of the country, near the border with Kyrgyzstan. Almaty’s official name was Alma-Ata till 1994. The airport is mainly used by Air Astana and SCAT Airlines.
Where is Almaty Airport situated?
Almaty Airport is situated northeast of the city. The M36 motorway connects the cities of Nur-Sultan and Karaganda with Almaty and the airport.
How many terminals does Almaty Airport have?
The airport has two terminals known as T1 Domestic Terminal and T2 International Terminal (opened in June 2024). Both terminals at Almaty Airport are within walking distance of each other. T2 International Terminal features two floors for passengers, as well as a mezzanine level. The Arrivals hall is on the ground floor, the check-in desks and security check can be found on the upper floor.
