The airport is located in the south of Spain, it is one of the international airports in the autonomous region of Andalusia. The airport has a good location in relation to the beaches Costa Almeria and Costa Tropical near Motril. The runway of the airport is on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

Almeria Airport is east of the city. By car you can reach the airport via the AL-12, the road lies parallel to the runway. The busy A-7 motorway is also close to the airport.
