Bangalore Kempegowda Airport is an airport in the south of India, the third busiest airport in India in terms of passenger numbers after Delhi and Mumbai. The airport has two runways (2x 4,000 metres) and two terminals (T1 and T2), many flights are operated by IndiGo. Bangalore or Bengaluru is the capital of Karnataka, a state in southwestern India. Bangalore used to be known as the “Garden City” because of its greenery and pleasant climate at an altitude of 920 metres. Nowadays the city is better known as the “Silicon Valley of India” because of the many IT and software companies located here. Bangalore can be reached from the airport by train, bus and taxi, a metro connection between the airport and the city will be opened in 2026.

The airport is situated northeast of the city and is easily accessible by car via the motorway NH 44 (National Highway 44), the longest motorway in India.
How many terminals does Bangalore Kempegowda Airport have?
There are two terminals at the airport, namely Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights (and domestic flights). Terminal 1 has a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, Terminal 2 has a capacity of 25 million passengers per year. The modern Terminal 2 was put into use in January 2023 and has been handling all international flights since September 2023, it is one of the most beautiful terminals in Asia. Domestic flights operated by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air and Alliance Air depart from Terminal 1, all other domestic flights depart from Terminal 2. The check-in desks and Arrivals hall are located on the ground floor of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, Departures is located on the first floor. Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 you can walk or use the free bus service T1/T2 Inter Terminal Shuttle.
