The second busiest airport in Thailand is located in the north of Bangkok, closer to the city centre than Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. Bangkok Don Mueang Airport was the busiest airport in Thailand until 2006. Today it is known as Bangkok’s low cost and domestic airport. In 2019, more than 41 million passengers used the airport. AirAsia (Island Transfer) and Nok Air (Fly’n’Ferry) offer cheap airline tickets from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport to the popular islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Next to AirAsia and Nok Air, low-cost carrier Lion Air offers many flights from the airport.

The airport is located in the north of Bangkok. In front of the airport is Don Muang Toll Way, this road connects the airport with the city centre.

There are two terminals, T1 for international flights and T2 for domestic flights. The majority of the flights depart from the modern Terminal 2. T2 at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport has four piers/concourses and is much larger than T1 with one pier/concourse.
