Beirut Rafic Hariri Airport is the airport of Beirut, the capital and largest city (2 million inhabitants) of Lebanon. The country’s only international airport is home to flag carrier Middle East Airlines. Beirut is one of the most diverse cities in the Middle East, a mix of European and Arab culture and architecture. Beirut Airport is named after Rafic Hariri, former Prime Minister of Lebanon and one of the richest Lebanese ever. On August 4, 2020, a huge explosion devastated the port area of Beirut, killing 200 residents.

The airport is located in the south of the city, not far from the city centre. The coastal highway (M51) is at a short distance from the airport.
