Tram to Bergen
Since April 2017, it is possible to travel between the airport and the city by tram (Line 1), known as Bergen Light Rail and Bybanen. The tram ride is comfortable and relatively cheap, but not very fast. Travel time from Bergen Airport to the final destination ‘Byparken’ in the city centre is 44 minutes. The reason why it takes so long is because there are a total of 27 stops on the route. Bergen Light Rail also makes a stop at Bergen railway station (Bystasjonen), travel time from the airport is 42 minutes. The airport station (Bergen lufthavn Flesland) is located in front of the terminal on level -1.
Tram tickets
The Bybanen runs every 5 to 10 minutes from Monday to Friday, also on weekends there are plenty of opportunities to travel to and from Bergen Airport. Trams run from early in the morning till late in the evening to and from Bergen Airport. You need a ticket for 1 zone, the prices are 40 NOK for adults and 20 NOK for children and seniors. Tickets are available from Skyss vending machines at the baggage claim area and at the stations, besides you can buy tickets via the app ‘Skyss Billett’. You can pay for a journey on the tram., though this will be more expensive. Children up to 5 years travel for free in Bergen. Flybussen to Bergen
Approximately every 30 minutes a bus of Flybussen (FB50/FB51) departs to and from the centre of Bergen. Flybussen offers the most frequent service between Bergen Airport and the city. The final stop is in front of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Bryggen, the city’s historic district. The stop in the centre is called ‘Festplassen’, one stop before is ‘Bergen Busstasjon’ at a short distance from the bus and train station in Bergen. A bus journey to and from the city centre (Festplassen) takes approximately 30 minutes. ‘Festplassen’ is a square in the centre of town, next to the beautiful city park ‘Byparken’.
Flybussen tickets
You can buy tickets online through the Flybussen website, the Vipps app or from the bus driver, but this is more expensive. Children can take the bus for free, when accompanied by an adult buying an ordinary adult ticket. A family ticket costs 169 NOK and can be used by one adult and up to four children under 16 years of age. Children, students and seniors pay a reduced fare of 99 NOK for a one-way journey. If you buy a ticket on board the bus, it will be more expensive.
