What is the distance from Bilbao Airport to the centre of Bilbao and San Sebastian?
The centre of Bilbao is relatively close, the distance between Bilbao Airport and Old Town (Casco Viejo) and New Town (Abando) is 13 kilometres / 8.1 miles. By car, it takes about 15 minutes to reach both places. San Sebastian is located 100 kilometres / 62.1 miles from Bilbao Airport, the driving time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Bus to Bilbao
Every 15 to 20 minutes a bus leaves in the direction of the city and Bilbao Airport, this is Bizkaibus line A3247. A journey from the airport to Bilbao Termibus takes 30 minutes, the stops Alameda Recalde 14, Moyúa Plaza (Gran Vía 46) and Gran Vía 74 are located in the centre of the city (Abando). The bus station Bilbao Termibus lies in the west of the city, very close to the new football stadium of Athletic Bilbao and metro station San Mamés.

The price of a ticket is € 3.00 per person, for sale at the bus driver and the ticket office in the public area of the terminal. It’s more economical to travel by public transport in Bilbao if you’re in possession of a Barik card. The first bus from the city departs at 05:15 hours, the last bus from the airport at midnight. Pesa/Lurraldebus to San Sebastian
Every 30 minutes (1 July until 31 August) to 60 minutes (1 September until 30 June) bus DO50B departs from the airport to San Sebastian and vice versa. The terminus in Donostia-San Sebastián can be found at the new bus station of the city, east of the river Urumea. From here you can walk to the centre of San Sebastian or transfer to a bus or train. Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver and online through the website of Pesa. The bus ride between Bilbao Airport and San Sebastian takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The last bus from the airport leaves at 23:45 hours. The first bus from Donostia-San Sebastián leaves early in the morning, especially during the summer months. Tourists and surfers who want to visit the coastal town of Zarautz are lucky. On the way to San Sebastian, the bus stops in Zarautz if there is sufficient interest, after about an hour.
