Cairo Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and the African continent. It is home to the national flag carrier EgyptAir, Air Cairo, Nile Air and Air Arabia Egypt. The airport has three runways and four terminals. In the Greater Cairo Region consisting of Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia there are two international airports, namely Cairo Airport and Giza Sphinx Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, you can purchase a visa for Egypt (“Visa on Arrival”) at the desk / bank counter. After that, you can go through Immigration with your passport and visa and enter the baggage reclaim area and Arrivals hall. In Terminal 3 you can buy a visa for 25 USD at the Travel Choice counter, to be recognised by the blue and yellow colours. The city centre of Cairo is accessible by taxi and bus. Hotel Le Méridien Cairo Airport is located opposite Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, and is connected to Terminal 3 by a pedestrian bridge.
Where is Cairo Airport situated?
Cairo Airport is located northeast of the city centre. From the city, you can reach the airport by following the streets Salah Salem, El-Orouba and Airport Road.
How many terminals does Cairo Airport have?
Cairo Airport has four terminals, known as Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 (opened in 2009) and Seasonal Flights Terminal. Terminal 1 is Cairo Airport’s oldest terminal, it consists of Departure/Arrival Hall 1, Departure/Arrival Hall 2 and International Arrival Hall 3. Hall 3 is not connected to Hall 1 and Hall 2, but it is connected to the Air Mall shopping center. Terminal 1 is located north of the other terminals and is connected to T2 and T3 by an APM Automated People Mover. There are four stations, namely TB2 (Terminal 2), Car Park, Air Mall and TB1 (Terminal 1). A walk between T2 and T3 takes a few minutes, the Seasonal Flights Terminal is located west of Terminal 3. Hall 4 of Terminal 1 is dedicated to VIP and private flights.
