Charleroi Airport is an important hub for low-cost carrier Ryanair, it was the first Ryanair base on the European continent in 1997. The capital of Belgium is pretty close, because of that the airport is also known as Brussels South Charleroi Airport. Charleroi Airport is located in the middle of Belgium, just north of the city of Charleroi and south of the capital Brussels. You will reach the airport via exit 24 Ransart Charleroi Airport of the A54/E420 and the N568.
How many terminals does Charleroi Airport have?
Charleroi Airport has two terminals, namely Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 2 opened its doors in January 2017, T2 is only open at peak times in order to relieve the pressure on T1. To gain access to the terminals, you must first go through a security control (pre-check tent). Travellers and visitors are randomly checked at this control. Terminal 1 at Charleroi Airport is relatively small, it can be very crowded on busy days. You have to pay for the toilets in the public area and the baggage reclaim area, i.e. € 1.00 per person, it’s only possible to pay by card. The airport check-in desks are located on the right in Terminal 1 (1 to 25) and on the right in Terminal 2.
