Public transport

Bus to Charleroi

With bus A1 operated by TEC you can travel every 30 minutes between Charleroi Airport and Charleroi, the last stop is the main railway station of the city (Charleroi-Central). The location of the train station is just south of Charleroi’s city centre. A journey with bus A1 takes 20 minutes. The price is € 6.00 for a single one-way ticket. Tickets are available from the ticket machines at the bus stop. Children up to 5 years travel for free, from the age of 6 every passenger needs a ticket. Travel for less money is only possible if you are in possession of a MOBIB card. The bus stop in front of the terminal is called Gosselies Airport. The bus runs two times per hour, also on Saturdays and Sundays. Nowadays, public buses are available between the airport and Fleurus Station (bus A2, once per hour) and Luttre Station (bus A3, twice per hour).

Train to Brussels

A convenient Charleroi Airport Ticket exists that allows you to travel from the airport to any Belgian train station or vice versa. You pay a fixed amount and the bus ride with bus A1 is included. By train, it takes 60 minutes to get from Charleroi-Central to Gare de Bruxelles-Central. The train runs two times per hour to and from Bruxelles-Midi (South), Bruxelles-Central and Bruxelles-Nord. Is there direct public transport available from Charleroi Airport to Brussels Airport?

Unfortunately not. However, you can take the Flibco bus service heading to Brussels Airport, it departs 11 times per day from Charleroi Airport. Travel time to Brussels Airport is approximately 60 minutes, the price is € 19 per person. Another option is taking a taxi from Charleroi Airport to Brussels Airport. Travel time by taxi is 45 minutes, the taxi fare is € 100.

Flibco to Brussels (Bruxelles-Midi) – BUY TICKETS

There is a direct bus connection between Charleroi Airport and the largest railway station in Brussels: Gare de Bruxelles-Midi. The shuttle buses run at least twice an hour and take 55 minutes to get to the capital of Belgium. At Charleroi Airport the bus leaves from bus stop 1, in Brussels it departs from the street Rue de France (Frankrijkstraat) next to Bruxelles-Midi (Brussel-Zuid). The price for a single journey is € 19.95. You can purchase tickets at the airport from the Ticket Desk and at the train station from the bus driver. However, the cheapest is to buy your tickets online through the Flibco website, especially if you book early. One child up to 4 years can travel for free for every paying adult. Flibco to Ghent and Bruges – BUY TICKETS

There is also a direct bus service available for getting to and from two major cities in the western part of Belgium: Ghent and Bruges. About twelve times per day a shuttle bus runs to and from Charleroi Airport. The bus leaves in front of the airport terminal and the railway stations Gent-Sint-Pieters and Brugge. Tickets are available from the Ticket Desk at the airport, the driver and online through the website of Flibco. The online fares for a single ticket are € 19.90 (Ghent) and € 22.40 (Bruges). A reservation is a guaranteed seat on the bus. Travel time to and from Ghent is 1 hour and 20 minutes, the bus ride between Charleroi Airport and Bruges takes 2 hours and 10 minutes.
