General information

Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is a major airport located in Shuangliu, one of Chengdu’s twenty districts and counties. Like Beijing and Shanghai, Chengdu has two airports, namely Chengdu Tianfu Airport (44.8 million passengers in 2023) and Chengdu Shuangliu Airport (30.1 million passengers in 2023). Chengdu Shiangliu Airport is one of the oldest airports in the country (opened in 1938), since the opening of Chengdu Tianfu Airport (opened in 2021) it is almost exclusively used for domestic flights. The airport has two terminals and two runways, with the majority of flights operated by Air China, Tibet Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Chengdu Airlines. Chengdu Shuangli Airport is served by trains (CRH China Railway High-speed), metros, buses and taxis.

Where is Chengdu Shuangliu Airport situated?

The airport is located in the province of Sichuan southwest of Chengdu. By car, you can reach Chengdu Shuangliu Airport via Chengdu Airport Expressway S6. The airport is closer to the city centre (19 kilometres / 11.8 miles) than Chengdu Tianfu Airport (55 kilometers / 34.2 miles).

How many terminals does Chengdu Shuangliu Airport have?

The airport has two terminals, namely Terminal 1 (Pier A, B, C) and Terminal 2 (Pier D, E, F, G). Terminal 2 of Chengdu Shuangliu Airport opened in 2012 and is located 800 metres south of Terminal 1. Both terminals have their own metro station, so you can easily travel between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 by metro. A metro ticket costs 2.00 RMB for a single journey.
