Estonia is the smallest and northernmost country of the Baltic states, the other countries are Latvia and Lithuania. The country is an independent republic since 1918 and currently inhabited by 1.3 million people. The majority of the people live in the capital Tallinn. The largest airport in the country is located to the southeast of the city. Tallinn Airport is of great importance to the country. Tourists are able to pay with the euro since 1 January 2011, it meant the end of the Estonian kroon. This is an advantage for European travellers.
