Montenegro
The southern European country of Montenegro, independent since 2006, is an upcoming tourist destination. Lonely Planet has recommended Montenegro as a travel destination several times in recent years. This is mainly due to the beautiful nature, from the mountains in the north to the beaches and crystal clear water in the south. Montenegro is called black mountain (Crna Gora) for a reason. As in many other European countries, you can pay with the euro in Montenegro, even though the country is not a member of the European Union. Beautiful places to visit in Montenegro include the Bay of Kotor, the Ostrog Monastery, Tara River, Lake Skadar National Park and Sveti Stefan. The country has two airports used for commercial flights, Podgorica Airport close to the capital and Tivat Airport near Porto Montenegro, Budva and the Adriatic Sea.
