Panama is the only country in Central America linked to South America, sharing a border with Colombia. Panama’s other neighbouring country is Costa Rica. Panama is best known for the Panama Canal (80 km) that connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. More than 4 million people live in Panama, a third of whom live in the capital Panama City. The country has seven indigenous peoples, known as Ngäbe, Buglé, Guna, Emberá, Wounaan, Bri Bri and Naso Tjërdi. Four of these groups control their own province in Panama: Ngäbe-Buglé, Emberá and Guna Yala (San Blas Islands). In addition to the mainland, Panama has many beautiful islands such as San Blas, Bocas del Toro (Caribbean), Coiba and Archipiélago de las Perlas (Pacific). The flag carrier of Panama is Copa Airlines, it is the largest airline in Central America with the home base at Panama City Tocumen Airport.
