Dakar Blaise Diagne Airport, opened on 7 December 2017, is the largest airport in Senegal. The airport is named after Blaise Diagne, a politician from Senegal (1872 – 1934). Dakar Blaise Diagne Airport, also known as AIBD (Aéroport International Blaise Diagne), is home to Air Senegal and Transair. The airport has one terminal and one runway. Most people travel from the airport to the capital Dakar or one of the beach destinations. The coast between Dakar and Saint-Louis is known as ‘Grande-Côte’ (Grand Coast), the coast between Dakar and the Sine-Saloum Delta is known as ‘Petite-Côte’ (Small Coast).
