Ski resort Breuil-Cervinia is a popular winter sports area. This is mainly due to the modern infrastructure and the connection with the Swiss Zermatt. With 22 kilometres the village claims to have the longest descent in the world. You will also find the highest ski lifts in Europe in this area.

Characteristics of the ski area
Breuil-Cervinia is an excellent ski area for beginners and families. The ski area is extremely safe. All slopes are well marked so you can never go wrong somewhere. The edges of the slopes are well marked and, especially if it is foggy, you will never feel unsafe. This is a pleasant feeling because you ski at high altitude and there are no trees that can serve as a landmark.

With a ridge of 3480 meters, Plateau Rosa is the highest point on the Italian side. The ski area in the Italian part of the ski area consists of more than 100 kilometres of connected pistes. The slopes are divided between the villages of Cervinia and Valtournenche.
The slopes are relatively flat, making it an ideal area for beginners and families. There is little to do for advanced skiers.

The most extensive ski area on the south side of the Alps is Serre Chevalier. The ski area is just south of the Col de Lautaret. Because the infrastructure and tourist beds are very well proportioned in combination with a large number of challenging slopes, you will not notice much of this.

Off-piste Serre Chevalier is truly a dream area. Experienced skiers can really enjoy themselves. The ski area consists of no less than thirteen villages. The villages are spread over six kilometres in the Guisane valley. The different villages are very cosy and have an authentic atmosphere.

Characteristics of the ski area
In the ski area Serre Chevalier you are almost assured of snow. Especially in recent years, it did snow a lot and hard. The quality of the snow is excellent all season long. What you have to take into account when you are going to this ski area is the wind. It sometimes can blow so hard that some connecting lifts have to close temporarily. The connection from Mônetier les Bains is often closed quickly when there is a lot of wind.

Almost all slopes in Serre Chevalier are black or red runs, so there are no good decents for novice skiers or families. Serre Chevalier is the most suitable ski area if you like steep, long and challenging areas. It’s also a good area if you want to ski tours. If these characteristics fit you, then Serre Chevalier is probably the best ski area in the world.
