General information

Dhaka Airport is by far the busiest airport in Bangladesh, consisting of three terminals and one runway. The airport is also known as Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Shah Jalal was a religious leader in Bangladesh. Dhaka Airport is home to the country’s two largest airlines: Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines. In 2019, the airport handled nearly 19 million passenger. Taxis, buses and trains run from and to Dhaka Airport, next to this the more luxurious hotels offer free airport shuttles.

Where is Dhaka Airport situated?

The airport is located in the north of Dhaka, in the middle of Bangladesh. The airport can be reached by car via the N3 motorway (Dhaka – Mymensingh Highway).

How many terminals does Dhaka Airport have?

The airport consists of three terminals, known as International Terminal (T1 and T2), Domestic Terminal and VIP Terminal. If everything goes according to plan, the new Terminal 3 will open at Dhaka Airport in 2026.
