Georgia is located at the borders of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. However, the inhabitants see themselves as Europeans. The autonomous regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are situated within the borders of Georgia. Partly because of the fact that Georgia has no authority in these areas, people are advised to avoid these regions. The capital of Georgia is Tbilisi, it is by far the largest city in the country. The Kura River (Mtkvari) runs through the hilly Tbilisi and gives the city character. Georgians do not name their country Georgia, but Sakartvelo.
