What is the distance from Gold Coast Airport to the centre of Gold Coast?
Gold Coast does not have a typical city centre, it’s more like an urban area along the famous beaches. One of the best-known places is Surfers Paradise, located 22 kilometres / 16.8 miles from the airport. The journey time to Surfers Paradise via the Gold Coast Highway is 35 to 40 minutes.

Bus and tram to Gold Coast
TransLink’s public buses 777 and 760 run to and from the airport. Bus Route 777 runs four times an hour between 07:00 hours and 19:00 hours. Route 777 takes you to to Broadbeach South light rail station, where you can transfer to the tram G:link (yellow colour). Travel time is 25 to 30 minutes. Trams take passengers to places like Surfers Paradise, Main Beach and Southport. If you want to travel to these places you will need a 2 zone ticket (travelling in zones 5 – 6) which costs 6.30 AUD for a single paper ticket and 4.34 AUD if you are in possession of a go card. Bus and train to Brisbane
Bus Route 760 runs two times an hour from Gold Coast Airport to Varsity Lakes railway station, travel time is 30 minutes. Here you can transfer to the train in the direction of Brisbane. A train journey from Varsity Lakes to Brisbane Central Station takes about 75 minutes. For a ride to Varsity Lakes, you only need a 2 zone ticket (travelling in zones 5 – 6) priced at 6.30 AUD. For a ticket from Gold Coast Airport to Brisbane, you will have to buy a 6 zone ticket (travelling in zones 1 – 6). This ticket costs 21.10 AUD for a paper ticket and 14.55 AUD if you have a go card.
