General information

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is the busiest airport in China, located in Guangdong Province, the most populous province in China. Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, is the capital city of the province. The airport has five runways and three terminals at its disposal, namely T1, T2, and T3. China Southern Airlines, one of China’s three largest carriers alongside China Eastern Airlines and Air China, is headquartered in Guangzhou. There are two excellent hotels at the airport: Novotel Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and Pullman Hotel Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. The airport is accessible by metro, bus, train and taxi.

Where is Guangzhou Baiyun Airport situated?

Guangzhou is situated on the Zhujiang River in Guangdong Province. The airport is located north of the city, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is easily accessible by car via the Daguang Expressway.

How many terminals does Guangzhou Baiyun Airport have?

On August 5, 2004, the new Guangzhou Baiyun Airport opened and the old airport closed. Originally, the airport had just one terminal, a second terminal (T2) was added in 2018 and a third terminal (T3) in 2025. Terminals T1 and T2 at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport consist of a central hall and six concourses/piers. In Terminal 1, you will find the check-in desks in Main Terminal, the security checks and baggage reclaim are located in Area A (east) and Area B (west). Terminal 1 consists of four floors, namely -1F Metro / To P3 Parking Garage, 1F Shopping Area Main Terminal / Baggage Claim, 2F Arrivals / Transfer and 3F Boarding Gates. Terminal 2 is the largest terminal at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, situated north of Terminal 1. You can travel between the two terminals free of charge by metro or shuttle bus. Terminal 3, opened in 2025, is a very modern terminal located southeast of Terminals T1 and T2.
