Hamburg Airport, opened in 1911, is located in the Hamburg-Nord district (Fuhlsbüttel quarter). In 2016, Hamburg Airport was named after former Chancellor of Germany Helmut Schmidt. Hamburg Airport is a very convenient airport with its own train station (S-Bahn). The centre of Hamburg can be reached by S-Bahn, taxi, rental car or MOIA Ridesharing. The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is Germany’s most liveable city and one of the best cities in Europe for a night out.

The airport is north of the city centre. By road, the airport is easily accessible via junction 23 (Schnelsen-Nord) of the A7 motorway.
How many terminals does Hamburg Airport have?
The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminals T1 and T2 are interconnected, with Airport Plaza (security check) in between. The airport building consisting of Terminal 1, Airport Plaza and Terminal 2 has six floors, namely -2 S-Bahn Station, -1 Mezzanine (S-Bahn ticket machines), 0 Arrivals, 1 Departures, 2 Travel Market and 3 Lounges / Restaurants / Observation Desk. Terminal 1 / Check-in 1-6 is slightly larger than Terminal 2 Check-in 7-10, after the security check you will get to boarding gates A, B, C and D via Airport Plaza. At level 0 Arrivals you can find supermarket EDEKA Tamme, open every day of the week from 06:00 hours to 22:00 hours.
